Abstract

Series I of the papers of Oklahoma attorney John G. Ellinghausen consist of legal correspondence and documents involving oil producers, colleagues, financial institutions and individuals. All materials relate to a variety of legal suits and claims; oil and gas leases; etc. filed by various companies and individuals seeking payment owed them by Wilson Petroleum Corporation following the death of its owner Hiram C. Wilson in 1929. The papers date from 1910 to 1932. Also included are three autograph manuscript notebooks containing Ellinghausen's court case notes and opinions. Series II consists of correspondence between Ellinghausen and book dealers, collectors, government agencies, historical societies; newsletters, book lists, etc., all relating to Ellinghausen's collection of Americana. The correspondence includes 22 letters to/from Grant Foreman (1948-1949).
